Cuba’s José Martí Cultural Society celebrates its 28th anniversary

Cuba's José Martí Cultural Society (SCJM) and India's Eight Goals One Foundation (8one) invite on Tuesday to celebrate the 28th anniversary of the Cuban organization founded on October 20, 1995.

The national headquarters of the cultural institution, located in the Havana neighborhood of Vedado, will host the event. It will pay tribute to the founding members and friends of the SCJM and present the official website of the National Program for the Study and Promotion of Marti’s Ideology and the Patria Libros digital library.

The meeting, convened in union with the System of Marti’s Institutions, will launch issue 66 of Honda cultural magazine, available on the websites presented for free download.

The website of the José Martí Program is also the website of the National Program for the Study and Promotion of Marti’s Ideology as a whole: its historical evolution, members, networks, projects, news, and contacts.

The website is an information center that facilitates national and international access to Cuban institutions and makes visible their activities related to the life, work, and example of José Martí and his presence in the world.

Patria Libros, in turn, is a free and open-access digital library dedicated to Cuban literature and inspired by the Cuban national hero.

Patria Libros is developed by students and professionals under the guidance of academicians, artists, and cultural promoters.

The SCJM was founded by prestigious Cuban intellectuals, such as Armando Hart, Cintio Vitier, Roberto Fernández Retamar, Eusebio Leal, Abel Prieto, and Enrique Ubieta.

Co-founded by Ramit Singh Chimni, President of the UNESCO/José Martí International Prize Jury, 8one is an entity with projects in the world’s different regions. It addresses eight objectives: welfare, gender equality, peace, the environment, hygiene, nutrition, education, and employment.
