To honor the 75th anniversary of the National Ballet of Cuba, Dr Miguel Cabrera, the company’s historian, will be giving a series of lectures entitled Un encuentro con la danza, la técnica, la expresión y los estilos.
This type of didactic activity has been a constant work of the Ballet Company for decades, an idea promoted by the prima ballerina assoluta, Alicia Alonso, with the aim of offering the art of ballet to all the people of Cuba, as well as the knowledge to better appreciate it.
The inaugural lecture is scheduled to be held on Thursday, September 14th at Alfredo Aguayo Primary School in the 10 de Octubre district, featuring dancers Nadila Estrada and Alejandro Alderete.
The following day, the 67th anniversary of the act of apology by the Federation of University Students (FEU) to Alicia Alonso and the National Ballet of Cuba in 1956 will be commemorated. The event will take place at the Juan Abrantes University Stadium at the University of Havana and will feature dancers Chavela Riera and Yasiel Hodelín.
On Friday 22 September, the lecture will take place at the Ministry of Communications Theatre, with performances by dancers Nadila Estrada and Alejandro Alderete. There will also be a performance of the Spanish Dance from the third act of Swan Lake, performed by Chavela Riera and Yankiel Vázquez. Additionally, we will have the Dance of the Four Swans from the second act of the same work, featuring Alianed Moreno, Melaine Leyva, Paloma Blanco, and Camila Alfonso.
